Magic Mike Live at Aylesbury Waterside Theatre

Vicky BeuttlerAugust 29, 2026

Magic Mike Live is the ultimate show for a girls’ (or boys’) night out and is 90 minutes of unforgettable entertainment that’s equal parts empowering and exhilarating, Enter Club Domina, Magic Mike’s legendary club, and marvel at a troupe of male performers performing sexy, acrobatic dances. On the menu: beautifully sculpted bodies, hot dance moves, sweat and above all… lots of abs!

The production, which was conceived and co-directed by Channing Tatum himself, is based on both the popular film Magic Mike (2012) and its box-office smash-hit sequel, Magic Mike XXL (2015). The stage production is a 360-degree dance and acrobatic spectacular with jaw-dropping dance moves, hilarious moments, and bold, immersive production design. It showcases an irresistible ensemble of very hot, very talented men performing temperature-raising dance routines all around you. That’s right, we’re talking above, in front, and everywhere in between.

Magic Mike Live launched in 2017 in Las Vegas and, following its critical acclaim, was further taken to other places across the world and this exclusive preview features entirely new staging in a traditional theatre with a Magic Mike Twist! Aylesbury audiences are the very first in the world to experience this brand-new staging of the globally celebrated stage spectacular, featuring all-new dance routines and choreography performed by Magic Mike Live’s largest cast to date, and a monumental set design that puts every seat at the centre of the action.

I have to be honest and confess that I am not a fan of the Magic Mike movie and was really not sure about what to expect from this production but I am pleased to admit that all my expectations were wrong. Yes, there were lots of sexy, half-dressed dancing men, but the show was so much more than this. Firstly, the dancing was spectacular; strong, dynamic and powerful. Secondly, there wasn’t just dancing, there was top-quality singing in the form of a beautiful audience-member piano serenade and some epic drumming, performed by one of the cast members on a full-sized drum kit that descended from the ceiling over the stage! Thirdly, the show was truly immersive with dancers performing on the stage, in the aisles, whilst hanging from the walls and in balconies. Being a regular audience member at The Waterside Theatre, the real jaw-dropping element of the show for me was how they managed to completely transform the space, appearing to almost remove the stage entirely and replace it with a new one which was completely surrounded on all sides by chairs, tables and audience members, as well as adding performance spaces and audience areas in what would normally be the wings and backstage balcony areas. Add to this sets of ceiling-high spiral staircases and ladders and elements of set that appeared from the ceiling, leading to choreography that took place both on the ground and in the air and you have a true feast for the eyes.

Magic Mike Live aims to empower women by giving them a place where they can feel what it’s like to exist in a world where their desires are heard and they are treated like goddesses. With this in mind, I have to give a huge hats off to the two female members of the cast, Chelsea Lee Wheatley who acts as our MC for the evening and the fabulous Kiana De Van Der Schueren who appears halfway through the show to perform astonishing dance pieces with the rest of the cast, half on the ground and half whilst suspended in mid area, whilst being rained on!

There are so many elements of Magic Mike to be captivated by; the choreography is spectacular, the experience is immersive, and the message is empowering.  Punctuated with unexpected thrills and a phenomenal range of acrobatic and musical talent, Magic Mike Live is a night you’ll never forget.

Strictly for ages 18+. Magic Mike Live utilizes theatrical haze, flashing lights, and loud noises.
