EDINBURGH FRINGE: This is How I Got Arrested…for smuggling drugs across the border but never actually getting caught with any drugs at Bar 50*****

This morning I decided to try out one of the Free Fringe shows, where performers are totally reliant on the kindness of strangers to pay for their venue and accommodation.
Azalea Slade’s audience members weren’t strangers for very long, however, as she cajoled them into taking part in her show, from timing it to playing various characters. It was hilarious.
As the length of the title of the show would suggest, Slade’s show is never calm and collected. As Sophie, a girl who lives on an estate with a family that’s into drugs, she tears through her life and adventures at breakneck speed, introducing characters by way of primitively drawn pictures, and totally engaging with the audience.
She’s adorable, drawing us in with her antics, and the fact that she was always aware that she was rushing to get to the end of her story before her time was up made it all the more fun.
Her energy was palpable, almost to the point of being manic, but it definitely made for an entertaining hour.
