Marianne wants to be taken seriously, Hattie just wants to get drunk and Emma wants a husband, but when arrogant aristocrat Chester arrives they decide to hold a fake seance, with unexpected results.
It’s fun but a little exhausting, especially as some of the dialogue is delivered at neckbreak speed. I had to admire Jasmine Joseph as Emma for delivering her lines so quickly while only stumbling over one word. Unfortunately, I couldn’t always keep up with her. She needs to take a breath occasionally.
The standout for me was Evelyn Faber, who plays both a convincing drunk and a convincing man.
Well Behaved Women is on at 2.20pm until Aug 25 at the Gilded Balloon Patter Hoose (Doonstairs) (1 hr 10 mins).
