Experience Live Stream shows at the Elgiva Theatre Chesham (elgiva.com)
Live Screening of Kinky Boots

Since the National Theatre first started to live stream its shows
in 2009, they’ve reached an audience of over 4 million who may otherwise not
have been able to see their productions.
Live streaming is now a popular way for other theatres to ensure that
shows can be seen not only around the UK, but globally.

The 300-seater Elviga Theatre in Chesham, along with cinemas
and theatres around the UK, screened the West End production of Kinky Boots.  The Elgiva is the perfect size to feel that
you’re actually seeing a theatre production live and are part of the audience,
rather than watching on a cinema screen.

Kinky Boots the
musical is based on the hugely successful British film from 2005, written by
Geoff Deane and Tim Firth.  It’s based on
real events and tells the story of Charlie Price, who inherits a shoe factory
in Northampton from his father.  The
business was under threat of closure as people’s tastes changed, so Charlie
comes up with a unique solution to transform the factory’s production and keep
everyone employed.  With the help of drag
queen, Lola, who becomes the designer, they produce their specialist “kinky boots” and the business is saved.

This heart-warming story was brought to the stage with music
and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein, opening in Chicago
before running on Broadway from 2013 to 2019.
In 2015 the musical opened in the West End and in 2016 won three
Laurence Olivier Awards including Best New Musical.

Live screening makes the West End accessible to everyone for
a fraction of the price and you can now see opera, ballet, concerts as well as
theatre shows.  Check out what’s coming
