Stage Experience Presents The Addams Family - Aylesbury Waterside Theatre - ATG Tickets (atgtickets.com)
Returning for the third year to
the Waterside Theatre in partnership with Vivo D’Arte, Stage Experience 2019 presents
The Addams Family. The collaboration between
the theatre and Vivo D’Arte, supported by Aylesbury Vale District Council,
began in 2017 with its production of Oliver,
followed last year with Whistle Down the
Wind
, which garnered five-star reviews.

As Vivo D’Arte School of Theatre
Arts grows in size and popularity, the challenge was to ensure that everyone
had a fair chance to perform in the main auditorium at The Waterside
Theatre.  The resolution to this was to
have an astounding 150+ participants in The
Addams Family
show, split over 2 separate casts.  It’s great to see young people from 6-26 being
involved in such a huge community project and each and everyone in the cast
gave 110%.  The energy and enthusiasm of
the whole cast was infectious and they all delivered superb performances.

Dan Cowtan, Managing Director
of Vivo D’Arte, founded the company in 2012 and it has gone from strength to
strength, with a range of shows aimed at helping young people train in theatre
or to give them a platform after graduating from professional training.

The
Addams Family
is
based on the hugely successful TV series from the 60s, which is still very popular
and was followed up by an equally successful film version in 1991. A new animated
movie is due out this year.

The Addams Family is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa
and the book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. The show is based upon The Addams Family characters created by
Charles Addams in his single-panel gag cartoons, which depict a ghoulish
American family with an affinity for all things macabre.
Wednesday
Addams
, the ultimate princess of darkness, is all grown up and has a
shocking secret that only Gomez
knows. She's fallen in love with a sweet young man from a respectable family.
With his cherished Morticia in the
dark will Gomez manage to keep his
daughter’s secret until the two families meet for a fateful dinner with
hilarious consequences? Join them, plus Uncle
Fester, Lurch, Pugsley
and more for a heart-warming story of love, family
and friendship… with a twist!

Featuring a live orchestra
and extraordinary original score by Andrew Lippa, The Addams Family is sure to entertain whether you are 7 or 107!

The show is directed by Amy
Dunstall, who, with just 8 days of concentrated rehearsals, has performed a
miracle moving so many people around the stage and getting the best out of
everyone.

Emily Scott’s choreography is
excellent and even the tiniest of performers was able to dance or carry out
small movements that looked incredible.

Whether or not any of these
youngsters goes into theatre as a profession, the confidence they will gain
from these shows and the memories created will last a lifetime.  I well remember my first live shows in a
local village hall when I was a child and think these youngsters are so lucky
to have the opportunity to perform on stage in such a prestigious theatre.

The show is really great fun
and could easily be something that you’d see in the West End, as the standard is
so high. The costumes took six months to design and are inventive and original.

The show runs till Sunday 18th
August, with matinees on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th at
2.00 p.m. as well as evening shows starting at 7.00 p.m.
