EDINBURGH FRINGE: Cream Tea and Incest at the Gilded Balloon Rose Theatre EH2 4AZ (venue 76). (1 hr)***
You’re in for a jolly jape if you make your way to the very west end of Rose Street this Fringe.

Gender bending is the order of the day as the all-female cast play a variety of aristocrats plus one cool valet who welcomes audience members as they arrive as if they were gentry.

Lord Wiggins is set to inherit Rhodesia if his marriage to Emily Rhodes goes ahead. But their romance is faltering, and it’s up to Eddie Spangler and his valet Jeffrey to sort things out.

Benjamin Alborough’s knockabout Edwardian comedy is an absolute hoot, a sort of grown up Famous Five adventure with melodramatic performances and cardboard cut-out props.

The comic timing is superb, the humour anarchic and the energy and enthusiasm infectious.

Cream Tea and Incest is at the Gilded Balloon Rose Theatre until Aug 25 at 12.45pm. Tickets are £9.50 with concessions.
